Relationships

How long does it take to recover from a failed relationship. It depends on who you ask I suppose. I wonder what Mike Ionata would say. I need to think about the lessons learned.

Mike Ionata and Fran

Michael Ionata and I spent much of our15 years together walking around Central park,Carl Schurz park, and all the pocket parks along Sutton Place and Mitchell Place. After our dog Spenser died, we took this walk in Central Park in early Spring of 2003. A passerby took this picture and emailed it to Mike. How many times we walked to the Boathouse,Bethesda Fountain, Strawberry Fields, the zoo and around 75th street and the West Park drive to hear Thatguitarman. Sid Bernstein, one of the kindest souls to walk this earth, offered to be my bridesmaid if we got married. He has an incredibly strong sense of family.

While on the topic of marriage, Mike proposed to me on bended knee in Bloomingdale's(by the David Yurman counter-how appropriate). The crowd chanted "Say yes", but they weren't the ones getting married. I quickly ushered Mike out of the area; I was completely embarassed.

Another time in the park, an elderly gentleman asked us if he could take our picture. It seems that he had recently lost his wife, and he thought how we appeared together reminded him of how they were together. Of course we were glad to oblige him. I hope he was able to draw some solace from the picture.
